an appropriate use of focal b&w

Sometimes focal black and white editing can be really distracting. For me, editing a picture so that you only see the color of someone's shirt is distracting in that the shirt often shouldn't be the subject of the photo. When I uploaded this photo, I knew that a focal B&W would be the perfect transformation. I don't get very many instincts about editing (yet!) so I was delighted that I was right and that this looks really cool. I also really like the original version. Tell me what you think, I would love to hear your feedback!
